Urban Pet Shop for Cats & Dogs

The stylish pet shop is situated between 8th and 9th ave on Waialae. They carry a wide collection of locally made products for your best friend in which that many are, organic, holistic, sustainable, and socially conscious. Co-owner, Jordan Lee strives to stock his shelf with local independent labels.

The Public Pet’s Mission:

“Modern day pets have found a place in our homes, our families, and our hearts. They are no longer just guard dogs or neighborhood strays.  The Public Pet hopes to continue this societal shift in creating a well-deserved seat for our pets in the fabric of urban island life.  Power to your pets!”

Whether you have four legs or not, it is exciting to make a trip to The Public Pet. The space radiates with creative and fresh vibes the minute you walk in. After a quick glance, you can already tell that the products were carefully picked and curated. You can find local brands such as Raw Dog Hawaii, Poi Dog Treats, Pia+Michio, A.Wattz + more

The Public Pet also hosts events, such as, puppy pop-ups of responsible breeders, and animal communication. Be sure to check them out and see their events online.

If you were wondering where all those “Keep it Kaimuki” decals and tote bags came from, it’s The Public Pet! We just added our decal to our storefront at the restaurant and it really added the finishing touch.

Jordan and his team, are big supporters of the Kaimuki community and local business owners. We admire their hard work on bringing the community together and always striving to improve it. We are so lucky to come into the neighborhood with great people at The Public Pet who are just a stroll down the street!
